With an average annual snowfall of more than 500” and the legendary steeps of Point Supreme, Supreme Peak, Flagstaff Mountain and Mount Wolverine, Alta has been the playground for those looking to test their winter mettle for 9 decades. While the steeps and deeps of Twin Peaks and Baldy get all the press, Alta is actually great for beginners as well, with 2/3rds of the resort’s 2200 acres in Albion Basin and Collins Gulch catering to beginners and intermediates. An Alta sticker is your badge of skiing honor, make sure to grab one while you’re there.

Alta’s western cousin-just a stone’s throw away and offering shared ticket access on many of its products, Snowbird competes with Alta, annually, for the most snow in North America (they recorded nearly 800 inches back in 2011.) Also home to legendary expert terrain across its 2500 acres and nearly 3300’ vertical drop (the longest in Utah), awe-inspiring views from its aerial tram-the only in Utah which lets skiers and snowboarders access one of the longest seasons North America and means you’ll get access to spring and early summer laps long after other areas have melted out and moved on.
