There is a reason that the Park City locals say, “I came for the winter but stayed for the summer.” Summer in the Wasatch Mountains offers a respite from the heat. The region is filled with many beautiful lakes, reservoirs, waterfalls, and rivers making it a perfect location for river rafting, tubing, paddleboarding, sailing, kayaking, power-boating, water-skiing, and jet-skiing.
Park City is home to two pristine blue-ribbon trout rivers, the Provo and Weber. The snowmelt brings the rivers alive with gorgeous unspoiled water creating perfect conditions for world-class fly fishing. Connect with nature as you walk through peaceful streams anticipating landing your first rainbow trout. If you prefer still water, visit the nearby reservoirs, Strawberry, Echo, Rockport, and Jordanelle.

Enjoy Park City’s vibrant entertainment scene, including outdoor live music, movies, markets, and festivals. The Sundance Film Festival, the largest independent film festival in the United States, is held every year in January and is what put Park City on the map. The festival showcases new work from American and International independent filmmakers. If you are interested in movies, this is a must-add to your bucket list. Pro-tip: Black Rock Mountain Resort offers a shuttle service to Main Street.
At Deer Valley’s Music Festival or visit the NewPark Amphitheater and Plaza to listen to free live music and stroll the Swaner Nature Preserve. One of our favorite weekly summer events is the Park Silly Sunday Market, an open-air market and street festival. You won’t want to miss the famous bloody mary bar!
Take a dip in the outdoor heated pool, detox in one of the outdoor hot tubs with mountain views, take a temperature-controlled sauna, or unwind in the steam room. After your wellness day, savor a locally inspired meal with a robust glass of wine at the Overlook Restaurant prepared by Executive Chef Ernesto. Then, cozy up by the outdoor fire and relax while stargazing at Utah’s wide-open, starry, indigo skies.
Another unique family-friendly fall event is Howl-O-Ween. It is quite the celebration with dancing, a dog parade, and trick-or-treating. We highly suggest shopping Park City’s eclectic stores on Main Street. There are over 100 independent boutiques! After a day of shopping, pamper yourself at the resort by taking a sauna or relax in hot tub. Looking for something different? Park City is rich in fascinating history and art; there are museums, galleries, and historical tours. Or check out the ghost tour! A 75-minute walking tour of the historic ski town sharing ghost stories about the many haunted buildings around Main Street.
Escape the crowds and revel in panoramic views. Salt Lake City and the surrounding area are home to seven public and eight private courses. Our mild weather is perfect for golfing and don’t be surprised if your game is improved. Sshhhh…the mountain air holds a secret. Just 5 miles from Black Rock Mountain Resort is our local Park City Golf Course, a walkable, player-friendly course located in the middle of town. The course expanded in 1976 to an 18-hole course designed by William Neff.
Round Valley Rail Trail is a 7.1-mile loop trail that is good for all skill levels and offers scenic views. Dogs are welcome as long as you keep your pup on a leash.
Plunko’s Peak is a 4.5-mile out-and-back trail. Take in views of the Jordanelle Reservoir and keep an eye out; this is a fun trail for spotting wildlife.
Iron Canyon Trail is a 5.5-mile out-and-back trail and is terrific for bird-watching. The trail goes through avalanche terrain so make sure to check the daily avalanche forecast before heading out on a hike.
